About Us

  • Our Director’s name is Jaqueline Skinner

  • We have many activities for kids which are always free and do not require a library card to participate. They include:
    • Story Hour (ages 0-5) held on Thursdays from 10:30-11:30am
    • Base Camp (grades K-3) held on Thursdays after school from 3:30-4:30pm 
    • The Edge (grades 4-6) held on Thursdays after school from 3:30-4:30pm
    • The Summit (grades 7-12) held once a month (check calendar for upcoming events)
    • Lego Nights (ALL ages) Wednesdays 3-6:30pm
    • Family Game Night (ALL ages) once a month (check calendar for upcoming events)
    • Tales 2 Tails (ages 0-13) Mondays and Wednesdays (call to reserve a spot)
    • Family Movie Night (ALL Ages) held once a month (check calendar for upcoming events)
    • Summer Reading Program (ALL ages) summer only (check calendar for all events)
    • You can also check out our Story Walks in Gaylord and Vanderbilt for an off-site family outing.

We do! We have 2 meeting rooms patrons and non-profit businesses can reserve for use. Reservations require approval from Library Staff, click -here- to see when the rooms are available and to fill out a reservation request.

  • Tax forms usually arrive at the library between the end of February and beginning of March. However, we never know for certain. We are more than happy to print off any tax forms you may require at any time!

Library Cards

Bring in a photo ID with your current address on it, or your photo ID and a document with your name and current address on it (ex. Tax forms, mail, leases… etc.)

  • Any resident of Otsego County Library and patrons who work or go to school within the county.

  • Full-privileged cards may be purchased for a cost of $30 per person or $70 dollars per family. 

  • If you live in any of our reciprocating libraries (provide list) you can get a limited access card free of charge.  

Technology & Printing

  • We do! Computers are free for anyone to use (even out of county patrons)
  • Bring in your library card to log on or a photo ID to receive a guest pass
  • Yes! We offer printing services for $.10 per page for black and white, and $.25 for color prints.
  • Use our in-house computers to print, or send prints to our email (oclprints@gmail.com) and we can print them for you after you arrive. 

Yes! Faxing is $1.00 for local and toll-free numbers. Faxing going long-distance begin at $1.50 and and additional $.25 for every minute they take to go through. Price caps at $5.00 for long distance.

We do! We charge a fee of $.50 per foot for lamination. We can laminate anything under 24 inches wide.

Borrowing & Fines

  • Books, audiobooks, and music CDs check out for 3 weeks and can be renewed once
  • Magazines and Movies check out for 1 week and can be renewed once
  • Hotspots and Chromebooks check out for 2 weeks and cannot be renewed
  • Reference materials do not check out, but patrons can make up to 5 free copies to take with them

  • For Full-Privilege library users (live, work, own property, go to school in the county or have purchased a Full-Privilege library card ):
    • Up to 25 items total per card for in house library materials and up to 50 Melcat items
      • 25 Books 
      • 10 Audiobooks
      • 10 Magazines
      • 10 Music CD’s
      • 1 Mobile Hotspot (per household) 
      • 1 Chromebook
      • New items follow the same limitations
  • For Reciprocal Borrowers (any resident who resides in a county willing to reciprocate with our library):
    • Up to 10 in-house items total
      • Patrons who hold a reciprocal borrowing card do not have access to any of our online materials or MelCat items

  

 

  • Our fines are .05 cents a day for overdue books, audiobooks, music CDs, and magazines
  • DVD’s are set at .50 cents a day overdue
  • We do not have overdue fines for Chromebooks or Hotspots, however, patrons get 3 “Strikes” for these late items before they are barred from borrowing the devices in the future.
