These databases are provided through a project of the Library of Michigan called AccessMichigan.  All of these databases are accessible from the homes of Otsego County Library card holders.  Some databases may require you to type in the barcode from your library card.

Ancestry Library (In library use only.)
This database will replace Ancestry Plus which patrons were previously able to access through Infotrac.  Use this database when you are researching your family tree.  Searches are easily performed, and you are able to view actual census records!

ChiltonLibrary
ChiltonLibrary provides exclusive photographs, diagnostics designed by instructors, step-by-step repair procedures, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) maintenance schedules, wiring diagrams, recalls and Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) for automobiles and light trucks in one easy-to-use web site.

E-books from NetLibrary
Check out a wide variety of titles that you can view from your computer at home or at the library.  All you need to do is come into the library to register to use them!

Electric Library
Database of periodicals, pictures, TV transcripts, and more geared to children and young adults.

FirstSearch
FirstSearch provides rapid desktop access to a rich electronic collection of bibliographic, abstract and full text information from books, magazines and newspapers.

GrantStation (In library use only.)
GranStation is an interactive website that allows grantseekers to identify potential funding sources for their programs or projects, and mentors them through the grantseeking process.

Health and Wellness Resource Center
This resource will provide you with wonderful, up-to-date health information in a user-friendly manner.

HeritageQuest Online
Census records and a significant amount of other genealogical information is at your fingertips!  This resource can be accessed from home as well!

This link gives you access to over 18 information databases including:
1)InfoTrac Custom Newspapers  
is a collection of newspapers from around the country and the world.
2) Reference Center Gold integrates a vast array of general interest and business periodical titles to answer a wide range of questions.
3)Use Health Reference Center Academic to find articles on: Fitness, Pregnancy, Medicine, Nutrition, Diseases, Public Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Alcohol and Drug abuse, HMOs, Prescription Drugs, etc. 
4)Search the Grand Rapids Press!! 
5)Computer Database finds computer-related product introductions, news and reviews in areas such as hardware, software, electronics, engineering, communications and the application of technology.
6)Expanded Academic ASAP meets research needs across al academic disciplines.  Access scholarly journals, news magazines, and newspapers.
7)General Business File ASAP allows you access to a combination of broker research reports, trade publications, newspapers,  journals and company directory listings with full text and images available.

8)InfoTrac OneFile is a one-stop source for news and periodical articles on a wide range of topics such as business, computers, current events, economics, education, science, social science, sports and many others.
9)LegalTrac will help you find articles in all major law reviews, law journals, specialty law and bar association journals and legal newspapers.
10)Junior Edition is designed for students in junior high and middle school with magazines, newspapers, and reference books for information on current events, the arts, science, popular culture, health, people, government, history, sports and more.
11)Student Edition is designed for high school students, with access to a variety of indexed and full-text magazines, newspapers and reference books for information on a variety of topics.
12) Gale Virtual Reference is a database of encyclopedias and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research.
13) Academic OneFile is a source for peer-reviewed, full-text articles from the world's leading journals and reference sources.
14)Kids InfoBits is a database developed especially for beginning researchers in Kindergarten through Grade 5.
15)Kid's Edition is designed for K-12 students, allowing searches of magazines, and reference books for information on current events, the arts, science, popular culture, heath, etc...

18)Biography and Genealogy Master Index is a first stop index tool for learning where to look for biographical material on people from all time periods, geographical locations and fields of endeavor.
19)Price It! Antiques & Collectibles
An electronic database antique/collectibles pricing tool, containing data from a variety of sources, including online auctions (eBay), online antique dealers (GoAntiques & TIAS) and land-based auction houses. The database currently has over 23 million prices realized for art, antiques and collectibles in more than 100 categories and subcategories with over 10 million images.

Search past issues of the Detroit News ( from 1999 to current), Grand Rapids Press (from 2002 to current) and Lansing State Journal (from 1999 to current).
ReferenceUSA Business & Residential  Data
(Access this from home!)

With this database you can search for businesses in the U.S.A. and Canada by:  company name, Yellow Page Heading, Major Industries, SIC Code(s), Title of Executive, Executive name, State, County(ies), Estimated Sales Volume, Number of Employees, and many other criteria!  You can even search for a company's credit rating!  Access to Residential Data is a new feature available as well.  Search 120 million U.S. Households by name, income, street address or phone number!
Sirs Discoverer
SIRS Discover Deluxe, a full text database for grades K-9 has been added to AccessMichigan. This database covers full text articles selected from 1000 magazines along with the full text version of Funk and
Wagnalls New Encyclopedia.

 


Search by title, author, subject, keyword, time period, geographic location, character and reading level to discover your next reading adventure. This is a new database for anyone who is ever on the hunt for a new book. You can use it in the library or at home!
